Lexington Thai restaurant owner saying goodbye. What’s next for location?
A Lexington restaurant owner is saying goodbye this week after more than a decade.
Nipaporn “Kukie” Ruadrew announced in March that after 14 years she planned to sell her Jasmine Rice Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant on Winchester Road.
This is the last week, Kukie posted online.
“Last week was a great week! I was glad to see everyone,” she wrote. “Thank you for stopping by to say hello, I was sad and happy at the same time!”
Saturday, Aug. 31, will be her last day. She said in her post that inventory in the restaurant, which is closed until Tuesday, will be running low as the week goes on but she hopes to see longtime customers to say good bye ... for now.
“I promise to everyone and our community, if I miss it too much I will return to serve you again,” she said in her post. “I just need a good rest and recharge the batteries.”
She plans to keep the Jasmine Rice name and will do pop-ups at festivals around town.
In the meantime, a new Thai restaurant will be coming and opening into the location at 911 Winchester Rd.: Thai House restaurant in Georgetown will be expanding into Lexington.
Thai House Lexington will be opening this fall, according to a post on social media.
The new owner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
