A fast-growing East Coast restaurant chain is coming to Lexington.

Naz’s Halal Food is opening a new location, with late-night hours, near the University of Kentucky campus in The Hub apartment complex at 685 S. Limestone. The new restaurant expects to open in early December in the former location of Kung Fu Tea x TKK Fried Chicken, which closed in March.

Naz’s Halal Food caters to diners who miss the halal cart experience of big cities like New York and Washington D.C., home to most of its 41 locations. After starting as a food truck by two cousins in 2009, its first location opened in January 2018 with a fast-food Mediterranean menu. It’s expanded quickly since then.
