Fried fish and chicken restaurant is moving out of Lexington’s Greyline Station
Thea’s Bass & Biddy Kitchen is leaving Lexington’s Greyline Station at Loudon Avenue and North Limestone Street.
Restaurant owner Thea Mason announced earlier this week that the restaurant will be closing in its current space, but she plans to continue operations elsewhere.
After the restaurant vacates its Greyline space at the end of April, Thea’s will return to the Julietta Market kitchen temporarily in the month of May, and Mason said she plans to take a break for several months.
In a video shared on Facebook, Mason asked fans of Thea’s Bass & Biddy to keep following the restaurant on social media.
“We will be back, and when we come back, we’re going to let you know where we are,” she said.
In the meantime, she said she plans to pop up at Taste of the Bluegrass and Soulfeast.
Mason said in an interview that she’ll also be serving food buffet style at the Kentucky Vintage Festival at the Greyline Station on April 27, though she said there will be no seating in the restaurant at that time.
Thea’s Bass & Biddy Kitchen will be open from 6 to 9:30 p.m. April 19, she said. After that, hours are uncertain.
“We’re almost cooked out, so as soon as all our food is gone, we will no longer be open to the public to serve you,” Mason said in a Facebook video Friday night.
Since 2018, Mason, a former special education teacher, has been serving up her Detroit-style fried fish and chicken at festivals, catering events and a Julietta Market stall. She opened her first brick-and-mortar location at the Greyline last fall in the spot previously occupied by The Social Vegan.
“We’ve been here for a season. Our season is over,” Mason said in Facebook video. “We’ll see you soon.”
