Lexington’s newest Oktoberfest: 10 local breweries, a Pretzel Row & more

A new Oktoberfest event will take place at a local landmark featuring all the breweries that Lexington as to offer.

West Sixth Brewing and Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate, are hosting Parktoberfest, 3 p.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, on the lawn of the historic home.

Ten local breweries will be on site for the family-friendly event, which will also feature food trucks, live Bavarian music and activities for kids.

“We’re so excited to bring something to Lexington we’ve been dreaming about for a long time,” said Tim Buckingham, external events coordinator for West Sixth Brewing. “Our goal is to showcase our dynamic brewery scene alongside local food partners and community members — our town is ready for this greenspace gathering!”

The new beer-garden-style celebration will have $10 limited-edition, plastic half-liter steins with $7 refills from:

  • West Sixth Brewing
  • Wisebird Cider
  • The Void Sake
  • Mirror Twin Brewing
  • Ethereal Brewing
  • Country Boy Brewing
  • Burl Brew
  • The Brewer Dude 
  • Blue Stallion Brewing Co. 
  • Black-Type Brewing

There will be six food trucks on site serving up brats, grilled cheese, kettle corn and more. There will also be a Pretzel Row with seven local pretzel makers including Papa Pretzel and Pearl’s.

Kid’s activities include face painting, a balloon artist and more. There will be traditional live Bavarian music throughout the day in addition to other musical acts.

“When West Sixth approached us about being the host site for Parktoberfest, it immediately felt like a fit,” said Jim Clark, executive director of the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation. “Our large lawn and dense tree canopy will be perfect for all day gathering, and we’re always looking for new ways to get people to the grounds to learn more about our historic efforts to uncover all angles of the estate’s storied history.”
