A new-to-Lexington restaurant has opened near Fayette Mall that is sure to get diners’ appetites revved up.
Ford’s Garage, a burger and craft beer restaurant inspired by the history of The Ford Motor Company, is open in the former location of Logan’s Roadhouse in The Plaza at Fayette Mall at 140 Rojay Drive. The steakhouse closed in 2020 during the COVID pandemic and has been empty since.
Decorated with Ford memorabilia, the restaurant takes diners back to a 1920s service garage with antique fixtures, gas pumps and blue shop towels for napkins. The nostalgic decor is highlighted by a Ford Model A replica suspended above the bar.
“Ford’s garage is definitely a different and unique dining experience,” said Billy Downs, president of Ford’s Garage, who was the restaurant’s first franchisee and is now leading the brands’ rapid expansion. This is the chain’s 33rd location, up from 15 in 2021, and the franchisee says they have their sights on a Louisville location.
What’s on the menu at Ford’s Garage?
Downs says there’s a lot under the hood at Ford’s Garage, especially on the menu.
“We’re known for our prime burgers and craft beers, so we’ll sell a lot of burgers, but we have a wide open menu that includes some comfort foods, and some really healthy stuff too,” said Downs.
There are 12 burgers on the menu, each a half-pound of gilled black Angus beef topped with artisan buns branded with the Ford’s Garage logo. Highlights of the never frozen burgers include the Estate Burger (smoked Gouda cheese, sweet red onion marmalade, arugula, tomato, fried onion straws and white truffle bacon aioli; $16.99) and the Jiffy Burger (American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce and creamy peanut butter; $16.50).
Burgers are also available in turkey, veggie and bison.
All burgers are served with Ford’s Fries or other sides such as tots, mashed potatoes or green beans. There are also premium sides like truffle fries, mac ‘n cheese or onion rings for an up charge.
The Giant Funnel Tower of Piston Onion Rings ($12.99) is an eye-catching appetizer, with each ring strung vertically on a funnel.
Comfort foods on the menu include hand-battered chicken tenders ($15.99), Mama Ford’s Homemade Meatloaf ($16.99) and Chicken Henry ($18.99).
There’s also a selection of sandwiches, such as Smoked Brisket Burnt Ends Melt ($18.50) and Monte Cristo ($16.99).
There’s a small selection of soups, led by Angus Beef Chili ($7.50), but if you’re looking for a more fuel-efficient fare, five salads are on the menu, including the Blackened Salmon Salad ($19.99).
