A Lexington burger restaurant known for an eclectic menu that included one served on a glazed yeast doughnut from Lexington’s Spalding Bakery announced it is closing.

After more than 15 years, Bad Wolf Burgers will close after service on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Owner Rachelle Collins didn’t want to give a reason for deciding to close the popular local burger restaurant.

“Obviously, since the pandemic, nothing’s been the same,” said Collins. “It’s just time. Fifteen-and-a-half years was a good run.”

Collins said she does not plan to open another restaurant, but instead is thinking about retirement and will “do some farming and watching my grandkids.”

Bad Wolf Burgers owner Rachelle Collins said the COVID pandemic changed the restaurant industry, but she was grateful “that small, independent restaurants have this kind of run” after more than 15 years.

Bad Wolf Burgers opened on Leestown Road in 2010 before moving to South Broadway in the location that later became Tolly-Ho, which announced it is closing earlier this week. In 2023, Bad Wolf moved back to the Meadowthorpe area in its N. Forbes Road location.

Bad Wolf’s menu included the spicy Cajun Burger, a pineapple teriyaki and of course the namesake burger, The Bad Wolf, a Cajun seasoned patty topped with bacon, house-made beer cheese and onion straws.
