Saul Good to open downtown on Monday
The Saul Good Restaurant and Pub in Victorian Square will open at 11:30 a.m. Monday. The 140-seat restaurant will be the third Saul Good in Lexington and its first downtown.
"We wanted it to be Saul Good, but we definitely wanted it to feel like it was in downtown Lexington," with tin ceilings and multiple levels, said owner Rob Perez.
Perez said the new restaurant offered Saul Good a chance "to broaden ourselves and challenge ourselves a little bit."
Part of the restaurant occupies the old Hutchinson's Drug Store space at Broadway and Short Street that had recently been home to The Chase Taproom, which moved to West Third and Jefferson streets.
The Webb Companies and Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate of Cincinnati bought Victorian Square last year and have said they plan to turn the block of restored 19th-century buildings into a downtown dining and entertainment destination.
The first Saul Good opened at The Plaza at Fayette Mall in 2008. A second, at 1808 Alysheba Way in Hamburg, opened in 2010.
