Kind Man Tries To Feed Feral Cats-Then Unexpected Visitors Show Up
So many animals have adapted perfectly to urban life. You have pigeons taking over cities. Coyotes living in Central Park. And, of course, raccoons well... everywhere. If you're tempted to leave food out for the local strays, watch this first. A man who goes by Veteran Owned Business Project has been feeding a feral cat for years, but got more than he bargained for in this video. A whole raccoon family showed up and ate some of the proffered snack, plus a spirited duck. They aren't called masked bandits for nothing!
The caption paints an adorable picture: "For the past 7 years, we've stopped almost every night to feed 'Mama,' a feral cat we've come to care for. It's become part of our routine-and every now and then, nature surprises us. This time was something special. While feeding Mama, a mother raccoon showed up with her FOUR adorable kits looking for a meal. But that wasn't all… out of nowhere, a Muscovy Duck joined the scene, too! What made this moment even more incredible? None of them seemed bothered by each other at all."

What made this moment even more incredible? None of them seemed bothered by each other at all. Raccoons, squirrels, and opossums are pretty common visitors… but ducks? Not so much. It was one of those rare, peaceful moments where you get to experience wildlife up close and just appreciate how amazing nature really is. The highlight of the clip is when the duck tosses his head, and the poster responds, "What are you shaking your head for? You're not as cute as them." Sorry, Mr. Muscovy, you don't hold a candle to the adorable raccoons.

Why Feeding Cats Attracts Other Animals
When you provide a kitty with a much-needed snack, you wind up attracting other beasties to the buffet. In one study, researchers left food out for feral cats and used cameras to track who came to eat it. As Faunalytics explains, "The researchers observed a variety of wild animals at the feeding stations during the study. Skunks, raccoons, and coyotes were the most frequent non-cat visitors." That sounds about right to us.
As part of this project, scientists also looked at the overall feral cat population and noticed it had decreased, perhaps in part because coyotes were attracted to the food, but then ate the felines instead. So pay close attention to which animals stop by if you ever leave meals out for feral kitties.
In this case, though, we're glad the little raccoon family stopped by.
