Baby Skunk Rescued From Street Says 'Thank You' With the Sweetest Nuzzles
Spotting a baby animal can be the highlight of someone's day, but it can also be heartbreaking to discover a little one in distress. Fortunately, there are many selfless people like @eshu_shine who don't hesitate to drop everything if it means helping a pet or wild animal in need.
On May 11, the Northern California mom stopped to help when she noticed a baby skunk by itself in the middle of a road in the Stanislaus National Forest. With no obvious signs of a mother nearby, she carried the little one to safety while she formulated a plan. The baby animal rescue was already heartwarming and wholesome, but when the skunk kit snuggled in as if to say 'thank you,' the bar for raised ten-fold.

It's really that easy to save an animal's life! The lost and confused baby skunk was in the most dangerous place a critter could be, which leads viewers to wonder what happened to the baby's mom and siblings. Hopefully, they are safe in the forest somewhere, because now this little one is safe and sound, too.
"Aww, he didn't eve do the charging flinch thing they do," commenter @scoobydoobydarling noticed. "Poor baby was just happy for the assist." It doesn't take an expert to see how scared the tiny skunk was, and seeing them nuzzle into their rescuer's arms gave everyone a massive sigh of relief.

After saving the animal from the side of the road, @eshu_shine brought the skunk to the Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center. While half the viewers agreed that they would help a baby skunk with no hesitation, the other half isn't so sure about handling one of nature's smelliest animals. Luckily, @sgvmantis cleared the air (pun intended).
They wrote, "PSA...They only develop the scent glands once adult so if you see a baby, help it along to safety! It may smell like mamma but it won't spray you." Good to know!
Baby Animal Rescues
The littlest animals often leave the biggest imprint on our hearts, and this young skunk kit is no exception. It's just so sweet! Baby animals may not have learned to fear humans or shy away from dangers like oncoming traffic, so it's sometimes up to us to help lead them on the right path.
