Everyone needs a little space just on their own to relax, unwind and get comfortable after a long day of work and interaction-and of course, dogs are part of that group.

That's why this couple got their golden retriever his own couch, and we've never seen a dog more appreciative of his personal space in our lives.

"We got our dog his own couch two months ago," the video caption reads as we watch the cute pup receiving his sofa.

"Now it's his favorite spot," the video continues, and we're treated to what is perhaps the most regal vision in all of pup-dom. The golden retriever, Chili, sits with a soft smile and closed eyes, letting the sun glow through the window in the family's beautiful cabin.

"He knows it's his comfy spot," the video says, emphasis on "his." It must be some grand life to be a dog with your own couch in the living room!

"Clearly this precious baby is loved beyond measure," one person comments.

"This is his cosy safe space," another acknowledges. "This baby deserves it."

"Now that's how you love and respect your pets," one more adds.

Do Dogs Understand a Sense of Ownership Over Toys and Objects?

Dogs are incredibly intelligent creatures, and they do understand the concept of personal ownership when it comes to toys and other objects around the house.

Whether in the wild or in your home, dogs are naturally territorial animals. If they have claimed a toy or object in their mind, they may guard it or carry it around to ensure everyone else in the house knows it is theirs.

Within the pack, dogs are aware of a social hierarchy, and they know which objects are theirs and which belong to other members above or below them in the pecking order. When it comes to people, most dogs understand that their human parent has the ultimate say, but if you make a big show of giving them the toy or object, they'll love it as their own.

Such is the case for Chili the golden retriever and his couch! His humans gave him this gift, and it has been reserved for his relaxation and comfort-because as the video caption says, "it's his home, too."
