Anna Faris Reveals That She Has This "Odd" Role in ‘Primetime'

Anna Faris revealed on a podcast that she has a role in Lance Oppenheim's upcoming film, Primetime. Faris will play the wife of Robert Pattinson's character, Chris Hansen.

While promoting Scary Movie, Faris, who plays Cindy, told Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that she has a small role in Primetime opposite Pattinson. She said, "I just have one scene as his odd, strange wife." Since Pattinson stars as legendary investigative reporter Chris Hansen, Faris will likely portray Mary Joan Hansen, Hansen's first wife.

Faris said of the experience on set: "It was incredible." She explained that in the scene, she is in bed and Pattinson is down with her feet. "I was really nervous that foot was dirty," she joked with Horowitz, who promised to ask Pattinson how he felt about that during Primetime press.

Primetime is about the Dateline program To Catch a Predator, with Pattinson playing the host, Hansen. Despite massive mainstream success, the real show only ran for a few years because of controversy and what some believed were sketchy ethical practices by the production. Along with Faris and Pattinson, the film stars Merrit Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Bokeem Woodbine, and Phoebe Bridgers.

Primetime is a rare dramatic role for Faris, who is best known as a comedic actress. She notably starred in Sofia Coppola's drama Lost in Translation and Ang Lee'sBrokeback Mountain. One of her most popular comedic performances is as Shelley Darlington, a Playboy Bunny turned sorority house mother in The House Bunny. She also played Christy Plunkett in the television show Mom for seven years alongside Allison Janney. Although Mom was a sitcom, playing the recovering alcoholic required Faris to do many difficult and heavy scenes. Faris' most recent film is the sixth installment of the Scary Movie franchise.

Scary Movie was released in theaters on June 5. The parody stars Faris, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Regina Hall. It is the first film in the franchise since Scary Movie 2 to feature the Wayans family. The story follows Cindy and her friends as they reunite, only for the masked killer from the first movie to return.

Scary Movie is in theaters now. Primetime will premiere in September.
