PetSmart announced it will officially celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026, marking four decades since the company first opened its doors in Phoenix.
According to the retailer, nearly 97 percent of pet parents now consider their pets part of the family. That shift has helped shape PetSmart's growth over the years as the company expanded beyond pet supplies into grooming, training, veterinary care, boarding services and adoption programs.
The anniversary celebration includes several offers for Treats Rewards members throughout June. Pet parents can earn bonus points on qualifying purchases, receive extra rewards for buying dog treats and take advantage of buy-five-get-one-free promotions on select cat treats.
The company is also highlighting milestones that helped define its history. During the 1990s, PetSmart Charities was established to help connect adoptable pets with loving families. In the years since, the organization has facilitated millions of adoptions across North America.
