This Unexpected Show Is Peacock's Most Watched Original Season Premiere
The ultimate guilty-pleasure reality show is back for an all-new season and is already bringing in more viewers than ever on Peacock. Season 8 of Love Island USA is now Peacock's most-watched premiere for an original season of television.
The season premiered on Tuesday, June 2. Within the first three days, NBCUniversal data says the show reached over 800 million minutes watched. According to Variety, this adds up to about 3.7 million views. This surpasses the three-day viewership of any other season debut on Peacock.
The previous season of Love Island brought in huge numbers for Peacock. Season 7 made Love Island USA the most-watched streaming original season of television in 2025, according to Luminate's report. Season 8 saw a 74% increase in audience for its debut compared to Season 7. Last season drew more viewers as the season continued after some of the cast went viral for their behavior; that popularity may have influenced this season.
Last season, Love Island USA became a topic of online conversation, with fans constantly debating the cast's actions. Specifically, the drama between Huda Mustafa and Jeremiah Brown drew people in and prompted them to vote en masse to split the couple up. Other couples were more well-received, such as Olandria Carthen and Nicolas Vansteenberghe, affectionately known as Nicolandria. Mustafa is now in the news after a restraining order was filed against her by her ex-boyfriend Louis Russell's ex-girlfriend. Many of the other cast members have been featured in various commercials.
This current season premiered with a whole new cast of islanders ready to fall in love, including Paralympian Beatriz Hatz. Before the season started, one bombshell was removed after controversial posts resurfaced. Nearly a week has passed since the season began, and there have already been fights and tears. Only one islander has been dropped from the villa as of June 7. Police officer and father Sean Reifel exited the villa after being left single following a recoupling.
Love Island USA is based on the original British dating show. The show is narrated by Iain Stirling, who also narrates the British version. Ariana Madix from Vanderpump Rules is the host.
Episodes of Love Island USA air every day except Wednesday and Saturday at 9 pm ET. The aftershow, Aftersun, airs on Saturdays in its place.
