Between viral fan edits on social media with billions of views, fan theories and fanfiction, these shows have stolen hearts across the globe—and we have excellent news for Maxton Hall superfans. The soapy German-language series, adapted from Mona Kasten’s Save Me Book trilogy, took the world by storm when it first premiered in March 2024. Damian Hardung, who plays the enigmatic James Beaufort, revealed the Maxton Hall Season 3 premiere date at Obsessed Fest on June 27. The third—and final—season will come out on Prime Video in December 2026. “I’ve just got notice that Season 3, the final season of Maxton Hall, will finally air in December this year,” Damian told the crowd, which then erupted into a sea of cheers.

Fans were left on the edge of their seat with a major cliffhanger for Maxton Hall Season 2. So what will Season 3 be about? According to Prime Video’s official logline, “Ruby is on the edge: She has been suspended from Maxton Hall College, and all evidence points to James being responsible for her expulsion. A slap in the face that not only endangers Ruby’s Oxford dream but also puts their love to a severe test.”

The description continues, “While Ruby and James do everything to save Ruby’s graduation, their environment and James’s circle of friends get caught in an emotional whirlwind that completely disrupts the existing order. Ruby and James painfully realize: Their worlds couldn’t be further apart, and not everything is as it seems. Can their love and friendships survive the enormous storms while the shadows of the past grow darker?”

Hardung weighed in on Season 2 and Season 3 drama as well as James’ character arc. “James is also not maybe the nicest character in the beginning,” he told the audience at Obsessed Fest on June 27. “So I think overall there’s this idea of having him try to find ways to immerse in the life that is true to himself instead of the life that his family always expected of him.”

“And to experience unconditional love is something that he’s never had—because it’s always bound to living up to the expectations of his family,” he continued. “Finding a place in the world that you actually design for yourself—that’s an empowering message for everyone out there and I think James goes through that…and you might be seeing more of that in Season 3.”

The symbolism behind James’ ring

Another fascinating topic Hardung explored at Obsessed Fest was the importance of heirlooms and symbolism in Maxton Hall—particularly one very significant piece of jewelry. “The Beaufort ring, which I’m wearing now, connects James to his family, which is the one thing he’s trying to get away from,” Hardung said. (That’s right—he was actually wearing the ring in person yesterday!)

“And there’s maybe something in Season 3 where the ring captures that whole journey with him. I think having symbols and moments in scenes that connect to a larger theme, or are a metaphor for the journey, I think that’s something very beautiful to take away from the story.”
