This Fluffy Maine Coon Kitten Has Eyes Like 2 Different Universes
I've seen a lot of gorgeous Maine Coon kittens over the years, but every once in a while one comes along that makes me stop scrolling so fast I nearly drop my phone.
This is one of those kittens.
With one crystal blue eye and one brilliant green eye, this fluffy little Maine Coon looks less like an ordinary kitten and more like he wandered out of a fantasy novel. I honestly don't know where you're supposed to look first. His giant paws? His fluffy coat? Those incredible eyes? It's almost too much cuteness for one tiny cat.
@mossycottagemainecoons Obsessed is an understatement. I just know this guy will make me proud! Mossy Cottage Enoki #mainecoonkitten#oddeyedcat#mainecoonlife#kittensoftheworld#bigcats

The breeder gently holds up the fluffy kitten, giving viewers a close look at his remarkable eyes. One sparkles a deep ocean blue while the other glows a rich emerald green, making it look as though he borrowed one eye from each of two completely different universes.

He's already stunning as a kitten, and knowing how majestic Maine Coons become as adults, it's hard not to imagine how breathtaking he'll be in a few years.
Viewers were every bit as mesmerized.
"This Maine Coon is beautiful. I want one."
"This kitten is absolutely gorgeous. I can't get over the eyes."
"Those eyes!"
"Wow, it's a David Bowie cat."
"That is one of the most beautiful babies I've ever seen."
"Um I need that kitty in my life… absolutely gorgeous."
"One green one blue eye? What a stunning cat! Wow!"
"The way my jaw HIT THE FLOOR."
"Wow that is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen!"
Honestly, I understand every single one of those reactions.
My jaw would have hit the floor too.
Why Do Some Cats Have Two Different Colored Eyes?
@peggyadamsarl Have you ever seen this?! Pudding has one blue eye and one green - a rare genetic expression called heterochromia! Less than 1% of cats have heterochromia! Don't worry - it's not harmful, just beautiful. Come on in to adopt Pudding at Peggy Adams!
Starman (2012 Remaster) - David Bowie
A condition called heterochromia gives some cats two different colored eyes. It happens when each eye develops a different amount of melanin, the pigment responsible for eye color.
Heterochromia is completely normal in many cats and isn't painful or harmful by itself. While it's often associated with white cats, it can appear in other coat colors and breeds as well.
It's also worth noting that not every cat with two different colored eyes has hearing problems. While congenital deafness is more common in some white cats with blue eyes, heterochromia alone doesn't automatically mean a cat can't hear normally.
I love all cats equally...
But I'll admit I'd have a very difficult time saying no if someone handed me this little fluffball. Although I'd have to explain to Meatball why another giant Maine Coon had suddenly appeared in the house.
I'm not convinced he'd be thrilled about sharing his throne.
