8 Women's Air Jordans Men Wish Were Available in Their Sizes

Women have always worn Air Jordans, but Jordan Brand didn't begin regularly releasing women's-exclusive colorways until the early 2000s. Since then, one thing has become clear: some of the best Air Jordan colorways never made it to men's sizing. Here are the women's-exclusive Air Jordans that men should have gotten, too. Let's get into it.

This list is based on design, wearability, cultural impact, and overall demand. Every sneaker here had the look and broad appeal to succeed beyond women's sizing.

White/Aqua/Black/Bright Concord

Air Jordan 8s are performance sneakers that MJ wore during the final leg of his first threepeat. This silhouette is one of Jordan Brand's models that I can actually understand MJ playing in because of the fitted inner sleeve, air cushioning, and durable materials.

The Air Jordan 8 ‘White Aqua' took Tinker Hatfield's championship classic and brought it into the light with a stylish colorway that sneakerheads of any gender could pull off.

Black/Black/Anthracite

The Air Jordan 7 'Black Patent Leather' gave the underrated silhouette a sleek, luxurious look that demanded attention. With renewed interest in the AJ7 following the return of the 'Miro' and the upcoming 2027 'Raptors' retro, this pair deserves another release in extended sizing.

With the Air Jordan 7 turning 35 next year, a patent leather celebration is exactly what we need. Nothing says happy anniversary like a glossy pair of Jordans.

DD9336-800

Martian Sunrise/Black/Fire Red/Muslin/Bright Mandarin

The Air Jordan 5 'Dunk on Mars' borrowed the energy of the legendary 'Raging Bull' while adding vibrant orange accents that made it impossible to ignore. It may have been labeled a women's release, but this colorway had broad appeal.

Released just two weeks before my birthday in 2023, this was the pair that got away. As a size 14, extended sizing wasn't an option, making it one of Jordan Brand's biggest missed opportunities.

Brown Kelp/Legend Coffee/Medium Olive/Black

Something about the Air Jordan 6 GORE-TEX 'Brown Kelp' being a women's exclusive feels like a mistake. Its earthy color palette and rugged outsole give it unmistakable Cactus Jack energy.

I've talked with plenty of sneakerheads who wear beyond a women's size 12 and wish they could own a pair. With cargos and a graphic tee, these would've been an easy everyday rotation piece. Instead, for many of us, they'll remain the Air Jordan 6 that got away.

AO6068-203

Vachetta Tan/Metallic Gold/White

As much as I understand some colorways being reserved for women, the Air Jordan 12 'Vachetta Tan' has always puzzled me. Wrapped in soft tan suede, Tinker Hatfield's iconic silhouette delivers the same rugged appeal as a classic Wheat Timberland.

There's been renewed interest in the Air Jordan 12, with Jordan Brand bringing back classics like the 'Taxi,' 'Flu Game,' and 'Bloodline' in the span of a year. If the 'Vachetta Tan' ever returned in men's sizing, I don't see these sitting for long.

CK9246-067

Black/Fire Red/Cement Grey/Sail/Metallic Gold

The Air Jordan 3 'Black Cement' is one of the most legendary sneakers ever made. Tinker Hatfield introduced elephant print, debuted the Jumpman logo, and helped save Michael Jordan's relationship with Nike, changing sneaker culture forever.

The Air Jordan 3 'Black Cement Gold' elevated that iconic formula with metallic gold details. If any AJ3 deserved extended sizing, it was this one.

Dark Powder Blue/Black/White

I still remember when the Air Jordan 1 High OG 'UNC Patent,' also known as the 'Blue Chill,' released on Valentine's Day in 2019. Excluding men from a UNC colorway felt wrong on several levels. This one felt personal.

Some blamed the patent leather upper, but Michael Jordan's favorite sneaker is the patent leather-covered Air Jordan 11. Try again. Years later, this missed opportunity still hurts.

Air Jordan 4 'Blank Canvas'

March 24, 2022

$200

DQ4909-100

Sail/Cement Grey/Fire Red/Muslin

The Air Jordan 4 'Blank Canvas' is a masterclass in bold simplicity. The canvas upper and gum-brown sole took Jordan Brand's most popular sneaker and made fans almost forget it was built for basketball.

These are the type of AJ4s men would've worn every day. Breathable materials and a neutral base made them easy to throw on with almost anything. Jordan Brand missed a golden opportunity by limiting the 'Blank Canvas' to women's sizing.

Should These Air Jordans Have Released in Men's Sizing?

Jordan Brand got the designs right. But the sizing? Not so much. All the sneakers on this list had the look, the materials, and the everyday wearability to be a universal hit. Hopefully, when or if these colorways return, sneakerheads of every size will get a fair shot. Until then, these are still some of the biggest "what ifs" in Air Jordan history.
