Mary Karr, memoirist and author of ‘The Liars’ Club,’ to deliver keynote at Kentucky Women Writers Conference

Writer Mary Karr, author of The Liars’ Club and The Art of Memoir, will deliver the keynote speech at the 2016 Kentucky Women Writers Conference on Sept. 16-17.

Her speech will be free.

Conference director Julie Kuzneski Wrinn said that The Art of Memoir, “grants her (Karr) a new degree of authority not only as a brilliant practitioner but also as an inspired teacher of autobiographical writing.”

Karr’s speech will include remarks on creativity and spirituality, Wrinn said. Karr is the Peck Professor of Literature at Syracuse University and a Guggenheim Fellow in poetry.
