Teen who pointed gun at protesters at KY rally against Donald Trump is indicted
A grand jury has indicted an 18-year-old accused of pointing a gun at a group of protesters at an anti-Trump gathering in Eastern Kentucky.
Marcus Slusher, of Harlan, was indicted by a Harlan County grand jury Nov. 19 on one count of second-degree terroristic threatening, according to Harlan Circuit Court records.
About nine people participating in a protest in Harlan on July 19 told police a man, later identified as Slusher, drove past them in a red pickup truck and pointed a shotgun at them, according to a police uniform citation filed in court by the Harlan Police Department.
Harlan Police Chief Winston Yeary found the truck at an apartment complex soon after. There was a 16-gauge shotgun in the back seat.
Slusher told police he had argued with the protesters and that some of them had threatened him.
He told police “he was upset because he supported Trump” and admitted holding the gun, which he said was not loaded, out the window as he drove past the group.
“Slusher admitted he was angry and made the decision to brandish the firearm out of frustration,” police wrote in the citation. “He denied any intent to cause harm to the individuals involved.”
Slusher was initially charged with nine counts of menacing and nine counts of second-degree terroristic threatening.
