PNC, the official bank of the University of Kentucky, debuted a “tiny bank” in a 160-square-foot repurposed steel container on UK’s campus on Monday.

The container bank, which looks like a tiny house, will serve UK students and employees until a permanent branch opens in the new student center in 2018.

In front of the bank, PNC installed a giant promotional UK affinity debit card. New or current customers in Kentucky can get the card for free when opening an account; current customers can request a new UK blue card to replace their current card.

Kentucky customers can request the UK debit card from any PNC branch in Kentucky. Customers not in Kentucky can get the card by requesting it on the PNC customer service website or by calling the bank’s customer service number at 1-888-762-2265.

A UK alumnus has already contacted the bank from another state requesting the card, said PNC spokesman Terri Wilson.
