Lexington landscape firm Henkel Denmark sold

Lexington landscape company Henkel Denmark has been sold to Landscape Workshop of Birmingham, Ala.

Landscape Workshop also has operations on the Gulf Coast and in Huntsville and Montgomery/Auburn, Ala.; and in Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville. It also operates a construction division.

Henkel Denmark was founded by Bill Henkel and Gordon Denmark in 1999. The two men say on the company website that the company was founded when they were “both 48 years old, each with three children and in need of a job. Our first promise was a commitment to serving our clients, followed by a commitment to serving our fellow worker — those in the daily trenches.”

Both will work for the new company, which works for commercial and residential clients and in landscape construction.

In 2011, Henkel Denmark was named landscaper of the year in a national competition through Total Landscape Care magazine. In 2009, the company was recognized by Planet, an industry periodical, for environmental improvement initiatives.
