One of Fayette Mall’s newest shops caters to those who enjoy singeing their taste buds, as well as folks who just want to add a little kick to their cuisine.

Pepper Palace, a national chain that got its start in Gatlinburg, opened Oct. 29 in the spot between PINK and H&M, mall management announced.

The company manufactures its own products, which include hot sauce, barbecue sauce, salsa, seasonings, rubs and the like.

“Pepper Palace makes spicy food for people who like spicy food,” founder Craig Migawa said in a video recently posted to the company’s Facebook page.

Of course, no self-respecting shop specializing in hot sauce would be complete without some form of competition to test an aficionado’s tolerance for heat.

At Pepper Palace, it’s the Wall of Flame Challenge. Those who dare can ask an associate to taste The End: Flatline Hot Sauce, Nasal Napalm Extreme Horseradish, or — for the very brave — both, then upload a photo of their reaction to social media using the hashtag #WallofFlame, according to the company’s website.

The store makes samples of its products available so shoppers can try before they buy.

The company has locations throughout the United States, including one at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass in Simpsonville, as well as some stores in Canada.
