Former Kentucky star Will Levis releases mayonnaise-scented fragrance with Hellmann’s

The legend of former University of Kentucky star quarterback Will Levis and his love for mayonnaise added another chapter to its infamous narrative Tuesday.

Levis and Hellmann’s mayonnaise unveiled a cologne called Will Levis No. 8, touted as the world’s first “parfum de mayonnaise.” The cologne was described in a news release as “an aura of greatness, the curated scent helps football fans feel and smell ready for game day.”

“With the launch of my signature scent, I’ve fulfilled a lifelong dream of partnering with Hellmann’s to craft a fragrance like no other, one truly embodying the distinct scent of greatness.” Levis said in a press release. “Rich and creamy, Will Levis No. 8 is more than a mayonnaise-inspired fragrance. It’s transformative. I’ve eaten mayo, drank mayo, and now I can smell like mayo.”

The cologne comes after Levis agreed last year to a lifetime endorsement deal with Hellmann’s Mayonnaise. The quarterback, selected 33rd overall in last year’s NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans, made headlines during his time in Lexington when he joked that he put mayonnaise in his coffee. He also garnered attention for eating bananas with the peel intact.

Bottles of Levis’ mayo-scented cologne are available for $8 while supplies last. Tuesday’s supply has already sold out, but more will be available at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The cologne, made to replicate the distinct scent of mayonnaise, also includes aromas of tart, mayonnaise accord, musk and vanilla with coffee undertones, according to the news release.

“We’re the first condiment brand to design a fragrance after our product — and it makes sense for Hellmann’s to enter this space because of the versatile ways that people are using and showing their love of mayonnaise,” Chris Symmes, head of marketing, dressings North America, Unilever, said in the press release. “Will Levis, condiment icon and mayo connoisseur, was the perfect partner to help us launch this first-of-its-kind parfum and venture into the fragrance world to unite both condiment and football fans alike.”

Levis played two years at Kentucky after transferring from Penn State. He took over as the Titans’ starting quarterback midway through his rookie season last year, and he’s slated to be the starter this season.

Former Kentucky quarterback Will Levis, now the starter for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, has built an entire endorsement deal around a comment he made in college about adding mayonnaise to his coffee.
