The Kia Carnival refuses to fit neatly into the minivan or SUV box. There's still no all-wheel drive, but the V6 is smooth and strong enough for hauling kids, luggage, and even a small trailer – up to 3,500 pounds if you need it.

Official fuel economy is 18 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway, with a combined 21 mpg. In real-world highway runs, we've seen up to 28 mpg, which is pretty solid for something this big.

Step inside, and the Carnival feels more premium than you'd expect. You can get dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, seven USB ports, VIP lounge seats in the second row, and even a rear entertainment setup with two big 14.6-inch screens.

Safety tech is solid, too, with lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control with lane-centering available. It's closer to a rolling lounge than a basic family van.
