Another Lexington pharmacy will close in July. Here’s where.

Yet another Lexington pharmacy will close this summer.

The Walgreens in the Lansdowne Shoppes, at 3349 Tates Creek Road, will close permanently July 21, according to voicemail messages left on customers’ phones and the Walgreens website.

In 2024, Walgreens announced it would close 1,200 stores over several years as it faced shrinking profits due to low reimbursements for prescription drugs, customers shopping online and shifting retail patterns.

In the past two years, two Walgreens locations in Fayette County have also closed, one at the corner of Nicholasville Road and Reynolds Road and another on Man O War and Pimlico Parkway. Those Walgreens closed in 2024.

Other pharmacy giants have also shuttered retail locations under similar economic pressures.

Two CVS stores in South Lexington closed in March.

Independent pharmacies have also struggled in recent years.

The Pharmacy Shop on Southland Drive closed in February after 31 years in business.
