Kroger just changed its member rewards program. Here’s the new way to save

Kroger has announced an expansion to its member rewards program with general points replacing the former fuel points system.

The grocer said in a press release on June 25 that the expanded rewards program will give shoppers “more flexibility” and choice in their rewards and savings.

How Kroger’s points program now works

One point is earned for every dollar spent using a Kroger rewards card. Points can be earned on everyday purchases, qualifying prescriptions and qualifying gift cards both in-store and online.

Kroger Boost members earn double the points on qualifying purchases made in-store and online. Boost members do not earn extra points on the following purchases:

  • Prescriptions
  • Tobacco products
  • Fred Meyer jewelry
  • Gift cards
  • Money Services
  • Lottery tickets
  • Postage stamps
  • The Little Clinic
  • Delivery tips
  • Boost membership fees

Points can be redeemed toward grocery purchases. Every 100 points is one dollar off, and up to $10 can be redeemed by points each day. Points must be applied to the purchase before checkout on the shopper’s digital account either at Kroger.com or the Kroger app.

Points expire at the end of the month following the month in which they were earned, according to the app. For example, points earned in June will expire at the end of July.

A shopper’s point balance can be found on their digital account.

Upcoming deals

Kroger said points can also be earned during “special Point events.” Here are the point events announced to be running through July.

  • Four times the points July 1 through July 4
  • Four times the points on private selection products when downloading a digital couple through July 18
  • Four times the points every Friday through July 24
