Visiting Chinese officials researching horse industry

A delegation of Chinese officials is visiting Kentucky researching the equine industry.

Dr. Gary Knapp of Monticule Farm in Lexington said the delegation from Wuhan College in Hubei Province were touring horse farms, Keeneland, Fasig-Tipton, the North American Riding Academy, Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, and the Kentucky Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center.

On Wednesday, they met with Alex Waldrop of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association and students in the Kentucky Equine Management Internships.

On Thursday, they are to meet with University of Louisville's equine program professors and Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo.

The officials are working to develop a college equine program for China's burgeoning racing industry.
