Second downtown Lexington grocery to open Monday

Lexington's second downtown, independently-owned grocery store will officially open with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Monday. Town Branch Market, at 233 East Main Street, at the corner of Esplanade, is owned by Howard Stovall.

The grocery and market offers a coffee bar, fresh local produce and ready-to-eat products from local establishments, such as pastries, doughnuts and bread made by Lexington bakeries.

Shorty's, an Urban Market, opened May 1 at 163 West Short St. in the Traditional Bank building. Shorty's carries fresh meat, produce and sundries.
