WLEX has named Louisville sportscaster Keith Farmer to replace evening sports anchor Mary Jo Perino.

Farmer comes to Lexington's NBC affiliate from WLKY, where he anchored weekend sports coverage for Louisville's CBS affiliate.

Farmer, who starts April 29, previously worked for WLEX as a news and sports photographer from 1997 to 2000. A native of Richmond, he graduated from Morehead State University in 1992 and began his television career at WYMT in Hazard.

Perino, who had worked at the station for a decade in two stints, announced her departure in March to spend more time with her 7-year-old son.
