Texas professor to head University of Kentucky accounting school

An accounting professor at the University of Texas at Austin has been named the new director of the University of Kentucky's accounting school. Urton Anderson is expected to start his job at the Von Allmen School of Accountancy, part of the UK's Gatton College of Business and Economics, on July 1.

The Clark W. Thompson Jr. Professor in Accounting Education at the McCombs School of Business at UT-Austin, Anderson earned his doctorate at the University of Minnesota. He brings nearly 30 years of faculty experience to UK, according to a news release from UK.

An academic fellow at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2011-12, he is a former chair of the accounting department at Texas and a former associate dean for undergraduate programs. The author of four books, Anderson also is a co-author of a leading textbook, Internal Auditing: Assurance and Consulting Services.
