Four S&S Tire stores sold; to be renamed

S&S Tire's stores in the Lexington area are splitting up their ownership.

Four of the eight Central Kentucky S&S Tire & Auto Service Centers have been bought by Monro Muffler Brake Inc. of Rochester, N.Y., and four other stores remain locally owned.

The four stores bought by Monro are those in Millpond, Hamburg, Eastland and Georgetown. The stores on Fieldstone Way and Richmond Road in Lexington and Brannon Road and Peachtree in Nicholasville remain locally owned.

Ron and Jodi Shade own the Fieldstone and Brannon stores, Kent Marshall owns the Richmond Road garage, and Karen Spurlock owns the one on Peachtree in Jessamine County.

The four corporate stores bought by Monro will operate as Ken Towery Tire & Auto Centers. Monro bought the Ken Towery's Tire & Auto Service business and trade name in 2012.
