Nick Ryan's, one of the anchors of the Jefferson Street dining district, has changed hands.

Creators Don and Barb Wathen sold the restaurant and bar earlier this summer to Brad Scott, David Ravencraft and Jackson McReynolds, the co-owners of A.P. Suggins and The Tulip, both on Romany Road.

Scott said they don't plan to change the Nick Ryan's menu or the atmosphere much. The Wathens, who also created Suggins before selling it to him in 1996, were ready to "slow down," and his group saw it as a great fit, he said.

"We're just going to run it as-is for now," Scott said. "We're getting our feet wet downtown. We don't know the market like we know the Chevy Chase area."

This might not be his group's last expansion, Scott said.

"We're always looking," he said. "If we think it's a good deal, we're going to jump on it."
