Starbucks at Main and Broadway to reopen inside Triangle Center
The Starbucks Coffee shop at 325 West Main Street has closed for now but will reopen inside Triangle Center soon, according to the building’s landlord.
Farra Alford of First Lexington Co. said that the coffee shop will reopen at Broadway and West Main Street after the corner store is renovated.
Alford said that a temporary location, which can be accessed through the mall doors on West Main and on Broadway, should be open in about two weeks and that signs on the doors reflect that.
Earlier, the Seattle-based chain released a statement saying: “After careful consideration, we’ve determined it is best to close the store at Triangle Center, and will be relocating the store to a different location.”
But Alford said Starbucks isn’t going anywhere, and the spot isn’t available for lease. And as to rumors of a sinkhole under it: Alford said that a water line had developed a leak, which caused some drainage problems that are being fixed during the renovations.
Late Friday, Starbucks’ corporate offices apologized for the miscommunication and issued a revised statement confirming that the store will be going back into the same spot.
“We are proud to be a part of the Lexington community and look forward to acting as a gathering place for citizens and visitors of the community for years to come as well as sharing strong connections with the community both inside and outside our stores,” Starbucks said.
