▪ The Alzheimer’s Association of Lexington’s office has moved to 2808 Palumbo Drive, Suite 205, in the ReMax building at Palumbo Drive and Man o’ War Boulevard. ▪ A new DXL store has opened from Destination XL Group, a retailer of men’s XL apparel. The store is at 4013 Nicholasville Road and is a one-stop shop catering to the fashion needs and lifestyles of bigger guys.
DXL offers more than 100 brands with selections ranging from private labels to luxury brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Michael Kors and Lucky Brand Jeans. Sizes start at a 38-inch waist or XL including tall sizes, plus shoe sizes 10-16 in widths to 4E.
▪ Our Lady of Peace has expanded its mental and behavioral health care services, and recently opened a satellite assessment and referral center at KentuckyOne Health Office Park in Lexington. Since Our Lady of Peace staff began working in Lexington in July 2013, the staff has grown from four to 19.
The new Assessment and Referral Center at KentuckyOne Health Office Park will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Scheduled appointments and walk-ins are welcome. The office is at 1401 Harrodsburg Road, Suite A-400. To make an appointment, call 859-313-3515.
▪ Midway University will celebrate 50 years of educating nurses in April by hosting a continuing education opportunity for nurses from across the state.
Scheduled for April 8, the six-hour event will focus on health care issues of older adults and will feature a rare appearance by keynote speaker Virginia Bell, founder of the Best Friends Model of Care, which is commonly used for patients who have Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
The continuing education event will begin at 8:45 a.m. General registration is $50. Midway graduates will receive admission for $25, and current Midway nursing students may register for $10.
Midway University will host a reception at 4 p.m. to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its nursing program.
