Alltech buys Irish feeding equipment maker
Nicholasville-based feed supplement company Alltech announced Friday the purchase of Keenan, an Irish company that makes farm feeding equipment, particularly mixer wagons that deliver consistent feed. This is Alltech’s 14th purchase since 2011. The purchase price was not disclosed. Keenan will continue to be headquartered in Borris, Count Carlow, Ireland. Alltech and Keenan together employ nearly 300 people in Ireland and nearly 5,000 globally, according to a news release.
“The Keenan group has long been a friend of Alltech. This is a story about two great Irish, globally minded companies coming together,” Alltech founder Pearse Lyons said. “Between Alltech’s primacy in science and Keenan’s manufacturing strength and technological know-how, we have a winning combination for delivering greater farm efficiency and profitability direct to our farming customers.”
