Seminars/events

The East Kentucky Leadership Conference will be April 28 and 29 at the Morehead Conference Center in Morehead. The theme for this year’s conference is The Next Big Thing is Really Small. MSU’s program developing really small micro-satellites will be featured, along with other technological drivers of the new economy developing in Eastern Kentucky .

The two-day conference begins with registration at 8 a.m. April 28. Early registration is $35 a person or $50 for couples, $10 for students. Participants may register at Alumni.moreheadstate.edu/ekyl. Additional information is available at Eklf.org.

The Lexington Area Postal Customer Council will present a Small Business Seminar from 1 to 3 p.m. May 4 at Lexington’s main post office, 1088 Nandino Boulevard, Room 230. Learn to understand Postal Service regulations, and the tools available to grow a business by reaching more customers and making mailings more effective. Postal experts will teach you how to determine the correct postage according to size requirements for letters, flats and parcels. $10. Women’s Business & Leadership Conference will be May 5 at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort & Spa. Keynote speaker is Tiffany Dufu, chief leadership officer for Levo. Breakout sessions include: living in the gap between now and realizing your dreams; from passenger to pilot: empowering women to work their business; and the power of influence: finding your leadership style. The Bluegrass SBDC & SCORE Lexington will present the following workshop, Essential Finance for Non-Financial Executives, Owners, and Entrepreneurs, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 26 at the Commerce Lexington Building, 330 East Main Street. Bluegrass IIBA Chapter will offer a series of professional development workshops to give participants a look at the role of business analyst. Each workshop will stand on its own; a person may attend one or more of the workshops to learn about the IT business analyst role.

Topics will include requirements discovery and specification, business rules, business analysis planning, use cases, process modeling, data modeling and requirements reviews.
