Work is continuing at Fayette Mall on the new BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse and the conversion of the former Abuelo’s into Oak Springs Grill.

BJ’s, a California-based chain that specializes in Chicago-style pizza and beer, is being built at Nicholasville and Reynolds roads, in the corner of the mall parking lot at the Macy’s end. The restaurant, the first BJ’s in Lexington and the third in Kentucky, is expected to open this summer.

Oak Springs Grill is a new concept from Abuelo’s parent company, Food Concepts International. The menu will feature comfort food, and the bar will have a selection of bourbons and wines.

Abuelo’s closed Feb. 21, and the space has been undergoing renovations. Oak Springs Grill is expected to open this month.
