The 2016 Regional Career Fair will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19 in the Megowan Building on Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s Newtown Campus at 500 Newtown Pike.

A few of the employers slated to attend include: ED Bullard, Resource Manufacturing, University of Kentucky — STEPS, Central Bank, Aramark, LexTran, CSL Plasma and East Kentucky Power Cooperative.

The 2016 Carnegie Books-in-Progress Conference, scheduled for June 2-4 at the Carnegie Center, Kentucky author Wendell Berry (World Lost, Jayber Crow, Country of Marriage and Hannah Coulter, among others) is open for registration. The conference welcomes both beginning and advanced writers and features craft workshops in nonfiction, fiction and young adult and business workshops on how to get published. The conference offers participants a chance to meet face-to-face with literary agents, Noah Ballard and Sharon Pelletier, who will lead workshops and meet one-on-one with conference attendees (extra fee of $25 required).
