Bourbon County reports first confirmed coronavirus case
Bourbon County Health Department officials confirmed the county’s first confirmed case of COVID-19.
Andrea Brown, the county’s public health director, said the patient is one of the three new cases that Gov. Andy Beshear announced at a press conference on Friday. As of Saturday afternoon the state’s total remains at 14.
Brown said the county learned of the positive test last night, but couldn’t yet say where the test was performed. The patient is in hospital isolation, she said. The department announced the case in a Facebook post on Friday night.
The confirmation makes Bourbon County the fifth Kentucky county to announce a positive case. Other cases include six in Harrison County, three in Lexington, three in Louisville and one in Montgomery County.
Brown said more information would be available during Beshear’s next press conference scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday.
“The community has already taken significant measures to help slow the spread of the virus by closing the schools and postponing or canceling large public events,” the department’s Facebook post said.
