Madison County has its first confirmed case of coronavirus, the Madison County Health Department announced Saturday.

The patient is in isolation at Baptist Health Richmond, the health department said in a news release posted on Facebook.

The health department did not share demographic information about the person, saying only that the person is a resident of Madison County.

“While the risk to the general public is low, health officials are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Kentucky Department for Public Health to identify and contact all those who may have come in contact with the person,” the release stated. “These individuals will be monitored for fever and respiratory symptoms.”

In Warren County, a 55-year-old man also has a confirmed case of the viral illness, the Barren River District Health Department announced Saturday.

A case of coronavirus was also confirmed in Spencer County, the North Central District Health Department announced Saturday.

“The individual infected has been following procedures for self-isolation to help prevent the spread of this virus and is currently receiving medical care,” the health department said in a Facebook post. “North Central District and the Kentucky Department for Public Health are working to identify and contact all those who may have come in contact with the infected individual. The risk to the general public is low at this time.”

As of Friday, Kentucky had 64 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
