‘It’s very very scary. Of course I’m scared:’ Lexington’s Laura Bell Bundy has coronavirus

Lexington native Laura Bell Bundy announced on social media Wednesday that she has COVID-19.

The actress and singer, who starred on Broadway in “Legally Blonde,” took questions about her condition.

“Do not be alarmed. I am ok, I am taking everything in stride,” Bundy said. She said she has been taking nutritional supplements and believes her symptoms are mild “because I have been taking care of myself.”

Bundy, who had a baby last year, said she has been quarantined since March 12.

“That day I had a headache, just assumed it was a normal headache,” Bundy said. Then she developed a sore throat and intermittent shortness of breath and chest tightness.

“I tested last Friday and then Monday I got the results that I have coronavirus,” she said. “Over the weekend I had no symptoms at all and actually throught I was delusional ....”

She thought she was being a hypochondriac, but the diagnosis confirmed it.

“It’s very very scary. Of course I’m scared,” she said. She said her husband also has symptoms but her son, born last May, does not.

She said that in the week before she quarantined she was at two events. She has been on NBC’s “Perfect Harmony” in a recurring role.

“I encourage everyone to stay inside,” she said. “My belief is that more people have this than they realize and could be carriers. I was tested but many people can’t get tested. .... It’s my belief a lot of us have it. Please take care of yourselves.”
