Peeps shuts down factories due to coronavirus. What will happen to Easter candy?
Peeps has temporarily shut down factories in Philadelphia and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, due to coronavirus.
“In response to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, we are temporarily suspending production at our facilities in Bethlehem and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, effective no later than 3/25/20 at 6:30 am through at least 4/7/20,” Just Born, the company that makes Peeps, said in a statement on Tuesday.
The peeps store in Center Valley will also be closed until at least April 7, according to the statement.
The company has already shipped its Easter supply of Peeps to retailers, the statement said. It also has an inventory of Mike and Ikes and Goldenberg’s Peanut Chews but could “experience out of stocks on several individual items.”
