Lexington reports 8 new coronavirus cases Sunday, bringing total to 74

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported eight new cases of COVID-19 in the county as of Sunday afternoon, bringing the total to 74 cases of the novel coronavirus.

One person in Fayette County, an 82-year-old woman, has died from the illness. Her death was confirmed early last week.

As of Saturday evening, 394 cases of COVID-19 had been reported in the state. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is expected to provide another update at 5 p.m.

Last Tuesday, the spread of COVID-19 in Fayette County reached a point of “sustained transmission,” causing the health department to halt most contact tracing efforts.
