8 more cases of COVID-19 reported in Lexington Sunday. Total is 153. No new deaths.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported eight new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, but no new deaths.

The latest cases of the novel coronavirus bring the total in Lexington to 153, including six who have died from complications caused by the respiratory illness since the outbreak began, according to the health department. About 35 percent of the people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Fayette County have been released from isolation and are recovering at home.

In Louisville, Mayor Greg Fischer said Sunday there are now 313 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kentucky’s largest city, an increase of 39 since Friday. He reported six additional deaths in Jefferson County this weekend, bringing the total to 20.

Kentucky has had 917 confirmed cases and at least 40 coronavirus-related deaths, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Saturday.

Beshear is expected to release updated statewide totals for positive cases of COVID-19 at 5 p.m. Sunday.
