Lexington reports 3 new COVID-19 cases, third straight day of single-digit increases

Fayette County reported three new novel coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the third straight day of single-digit increases in new infections in Kentucky’s second-largest county.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is now 212, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.

On Monday, there was only one new positive COVID-19 case. That number was likely artificially low because many labs were closed over the Easter weekend, health department officials cautioned. On Tuesday, there were four new cases.

Seven people from Fayette County have died from coronavirus-related complications. It has been more than a week since the last reported death was announced on April 6.

The majority — 67 percent — of Fayette County patients have already recovered, health department data shows.
