Prom on hold, Kentucky high school is throwing at-home virtual ‘affair to remember’
A Kentucky high school is throwing a virtual at-home prom Saturday night since their traditional in-person event is on hold during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Henderson County High School students can tune into local radio station WSON at 7 p.m. Saturday for music for the at-home virtual prom with the theme “A Grand Affair.”
There will be a waltz, the announcement of the prom court, and about 40 minutes of music “for students to dance to in the comfort and safety of their own home,” a post on the Western Kentucky school’s website said.
“We are all hoping and planning for a real prom in the coming weeks/months and administration has vowed to do everything in their power to give you that special day,” the post said.
“For now, let’s honor the originally scheduled date and celebrate with a Virtual At-Home Prom.”
Students were able to vote for the Prom Court through the Class of 2020 Google Classroom platform.
In another effort, Madison Scott and her friends from Scott County High School in Georgetown modeled prom dresses in a Facebook video last week. Madison said in a post it was “in honor of prom” and “not being able to get together.”
