Two Kentucky nursing homes have had at least 10 COVID-19 deaths. These 53 have cases.
Two nursing homes in Kentucky have had at least 10 residents die after contracting COVID-19, according to a list provided by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services of the 53 nursing homes with coronavirus patients.
The respiratory disease has spread rapidly in Kentucky’s long-term care facilities, infecting 454 residents and 196 staff as of April 21. Seventy-one residents and one staffer have died as a result.
The two homes with at least 10 deaths are Rigewood Terrace in Hopkins County (10 dead, one suspect death) and Treyton Oak Towers in Jefferson County (11 dead). But they’re hardly alone. At least 14 nursing homes in Kentucky have had at least one resident die from the virus.
River’s Edge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jefferson County has the highest number of positive COVID-19 cases among residents, with 66. Of those who have tested positive, four have died. An additional 13 staff members have tested positive.
It is followed by Ridgewood Terrace in Hopkins County (56 positive residents, 10 deaths), Mills Manor Health and Rehabilitation in Graves County (46 positive residents, 8 deaths) and Signature Healthcare at Summit Manor in Adair County (42 positive residents, 2 deaths). Summit Manor also has the state’s only death of a nursing home employee.
