Kroger shopper with COVID-19 arrested after defying quarantine 3 times, KY cops say

A Louisville woman who tested positive for the coronavirus was arrested Monday after failing to self-quarantine, according to police.

Kendra Burnett, 37, violated a court order by going to a Kroger grocery store on 2nd Street in Louisville, police said. It was the third time she refused to quarantine after her positive test, according to police.

Police did not say in an arrest citation for Burnett why she was under a court order. But the Burnett’s mother told officers she was breaking her quarantine, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Surveillance footage shows Burnett made contact with about five people at the Kroger, where she was around 9 a.m. Monday with approximately 200 shoppers and workers, an arrest citation states.

The document does not say whether Burnett was wearing a mask.

While Burnett was in custody, she “kicked out (a) rear taillight and interior handle, causing damage,” police wrote in the citation.

Burnett was charged with five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count each of contempt of court and second-degree criminal mischief, court records show. She was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning.
