Beshear announces 316 new Kentucky COVID-19 cases, one death Saturday
Gov. Andy Beshear announced 316 new cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky on Saturday, increasing the state’s total number of cases to 15,167. He also announced one new COVID-related death, a 78-year-old woman from Jefferson County, as that statewide total reached 554.
“Since we first started fighting this virus nearly four months ago, Kentuckians have risen to the challenge,” Beshear said in a news release. “We still have a long way to go, but our progress shows the enormous strength and resilience of our people.”
According to the release, 391,765 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Kentucky, and at least 3,730 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
Beshear also advised Kentuckians to monitor air quality and, if necessary, limit their time spent outdoors over the coming days as a cloud of dust and dry air that originated in the Sahara Desert moves across the southern United States.
“We absolutely need to be cautious this weekend and next week,” Beshear said. “We’ve already shown that we can come together to fight a global pandemic for months, so I know we can take the steps needed to protect ourselves and our loved ones over one week.”
