Updated: New death increases Lexington nursing home COVID-19 fatalities to 9 in June

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported 23 new COVID-19 cases and one new coronavirus-related death Tuesday.

A Pine Meadows nursing home resident in her 60s died, health department spokesman Kevin Hall said. She’s the fourth COVID-19 related death at Pine Meadows, according to state data.

All five have been reported since June 23. Pine Meadows had reported 25 cases among residents and 18 cases among employees as of Monday.

The only other nursing home in Lexington with COVID-19 deaths is Homestead Post Acute, which had five. Homestead Post Acute had reported 39 cases among residents and 19 cases among staff as of Monday.

All nine of the deaths have come in the last three weeks.

The only long-term care facility in Lexington with more deaths is the Federal Medical Center, according to state data. The FMC hasn’t reported a death since June 9.

Eleven of Lexington’s 23 new cases were 34 or younger, according to health department data. Another eight were between 35 and 54. Only four were over the age of 55.
