Lexington COVID-19 cases increase by 39. No new deaths for 3rd straight day
Lexington reported 39 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths Thursday morning, marking the third consecutive day without a reported coronavirus-related death. The total case number is 1,839.
The case increase is tied for the fifth-highest single-day increase in Lexington, but it’s far lower than the single-day record of 62 set earlier this week.
Confirmed cases in men surpassed the 1,000 threshold, according to Lexington-Fayette County Health Department data. As of Tuesday morning, there were 1,004 confirmed cases in men, or about 55 percent of all cases. Women have had 831 confirmed cases. The health department hasn’t confirmed the gender for four of the cases.
There were 15 new cases confirmed in the 18-34 age range, according to health department data, the most of any age range for the day. There were also six new confirmed hospitalizations and 35 recoveries, according to health department data.
Lexington reported 25 new cases on Wednesday, with no new deaths and 37 recoveries.
Lexington has set up free COVID-19 testing at Shiloh Baptist Church for the next three days. Testing will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, according to the health department.
